Recent developments in the Amazon area of Peru may force the government to rollback a series of land reforms that allows foreigners to easily acquire land in the South American nation.
The government of President Alan Garcia has previously stated that it will not reconsider the land reform laws, which comes to conformity with the US-Peru Free Trade Agreement. However, a recent encounter between police forces and native groups has forced it to reconsider its position and throw away two of the decrees.
